Campaigns & Elections Magazine
Says Capitol Inside `Breaking News Ahead of the Pack’

AUSTIN, TEXAS – Mike Hailey’s Capitol Inside has drawn national attention and praise as the subject of a feature story in the new edition of Campaigns & Elections Magazine.

Capitol Inside “is credited with breaking news ahead of the pack,” the magazine reports in the December-January issue in an article by Editor-in-Chief David Mark.

The C&E story says that the Austin-based web site “is read widely by Texas capital power players” including lawmakers, lobbyists, journalists, state government workers and others. It describes Hailey’s experience as a veteran political journalist and press secretary for the late Lieutenant Governor Bob Bullock - and it examines the trail he has been blazing for the past 11 months as the founder and editor of an online news service that has “really taken off” while competing daily against the state’s largest newspapers and other print publications.

“It’s a tremendous honor to be showcased in a national publication that’s known far and wide as the best in the business at what it does,” Hailey said. “It’s all the more gratifying when you consider the enormous challenge Capitol Inside faced starting out in one of the most competitive political news markets in the world.

“The web site has been successful because it’s unique, entertaining, rich in information and willing to go places where the contemporary press has never been,’ Hailey said. “We’re giving our readers a product that’s never been available to them before - and most seem to love it. To be featured in Campaigns & Elections is icing on the cake.

“Capitol Inside isn’t a job,” Hailey said. “It’s an adventure.”
