After getting swept up in a wild goose chase on James Talarico's mental health earlier this month, Republican Ken Paxton raised the bar on desperation Hail Marys to a new height on Friday night when he claimed that the Democratic U.S. Senate contender signed up for a dating site in a hunt for group sex when he was 21 years old.

Paxton based the latest tale on a story in the conservative publication Townhall, which showed a copy of a report on information that was purportedly leaked in a massive data breach on the app Fling.com from an account that was ostensibly created with an old Talarico email address. The report lists the account user's interests as "fetish, groupsex, sexual relations (and) online flirting" and other in a statement on information that was allegedly pirated from the site in the data leak in 2011.

"Talarico is weirder than anyone ever imagined," Paxton asserted in a post on X. "He signed up for an illicit adult hookup website looking for “group” activities. Tell your friends and family to vote next Tuesday to make sure Talafreako doesn’t end up in the U.S. Senate."

But the wild accusations on the final weekend before the midterm vote raised eyebrows immediately as a result of dates that don't add up on the data piracy statement. The report on which Paxton pinned the claims shows the date of birth for the user as September 24, 1985 - which would make that person 41 years of age now. Talarico, for the record, turned 37 in May. The report shows that the user who Paxton claims to have been Talarico established the account with a zip code in Los Angeles.

Fling.com says on its web site that it's been in business for 15 years. The purported report on the leak of data from the account registered at jimmytalarico@austin.rr.com shows the user joined the site on December 26, 2010 and logged in one second later for the last time.

The person Paxton has identified as Talarico was signed into the account for less than one minute and never returned to the site. Based on the timeline, the account that was opened with the Taiarico email would have been one of not the first ever created on Fling. Russian bots can get in anyone's email - and they've created millions accounts with pirated information and perpetuated countless business email scams that have become common and stolen countless amounts of money since their inception.

Talarico's camp dismissed the group sex and fetish accusations as blatantly bogus. The Democrat's allies said Fox News, Newsmax, the One American Network and other conservative news outlets all refused to publish the latest conspiracy theory on the Talarico campaign.

But the National Republican Senatorial Committee, also known as the NRSC, fell for the dating app conspiracy when it post a copy of the Townhall piece on its web site Friday night.

Paxton's camp took a bath in embarrassment three weeks ago when it took the bait on a conspiracy theory about Talarico seeking treatment for a mental breakdown in a private facility out of state. A group of conservative activists and influencers fell for the conspiracy, spread it on social media and found their credibility in shambles ever since.

But the state attorney general appeared undaunted by the bamboozling on Talarico's mental condition when he seized on the Fling.app saga for a Senate bid that appears to be in deep trouble based on the polling, the prediction market odds and all the other signs that point to a potentially monstrous blue wave in the making for Tuesday's vote.
